Each year, Camp STEAM is on the lookout for enthusiastic and talented individuals to help us create an unforgettable summer camp experience and make a difference in our campers’ lives. Do you know someone who:

  • Is passionate about science, technology, engineering the arts and math and loves working with kids?
  • Has an enthusiastic, patient and upbeat attitude?
  • Is a great organiser, team worker and collaborator?
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills?
  • Has a high school diploma or is enrolled in post secondary studies?
  • Is looking for a summer job?

How to Refer Someone to Work at Camp STEAM

  1. Refer someone from your network via the Referral form.
  2. The person you refer will then receive an email from Camp STEAM, letting them know that you think they’d be a great fit, and inviting them to apply.

Positions We Hire for at Camp STEAM

Summer Camp Counsellor

Summer Camp Counsellors are enthusiastic and have excellent group management skills. Counsellors enjoy organizing the camp activities from setup to cleanup, respect health and safety procedures and are interested in developing their leadership skills.

Camp STEAM camp coordinator

Some of the Camp Counsellor responsibilities include:

  • Leading activities for campers including inquiry and discussion
  • Leading activities for campers including inquiry and discussion
  • Assisting campers in learning more about Camp STEAM projects
  • Creating a fun, enjoyable, and safe atmosphere for campers
  • Modelling appropriate behaviour and positive interactions
  • Engaging with each camper as they work through activities
  • Ensuring that all campers under your care are treated equally, consistently and fairly 
  • Providing consistent and specific direction in the supervision of campers.

Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator is enthusiastic and enjoys making sure the camp activities are running smoothly. They have an interest in a STEAM field, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, teaching skills, time management and organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and English proficiency with some experience in online gaming.

Camp STEAM camp coordinator

Some of the Program Coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing Counsellors to ensure the Camp STEAM curriculum is properly implemented
  • Leading activities with children between the ages of 5-14 years old
  • Developing STEAM-related activities to help fill programming (if needed)
  • Performing duties of a Counsellor in an emergency
  • Modelling appropriate behaviour and creating positive interactions
  • Ensuring that emergency procedures are followed by campers and staff
  • Engaging parents by providing appropriate and professional feedback
  • Assisting the Camp Coordinator with training staff at your location,

Camp Coordinator

Camp Coordinators work closely with the Program Coordinator and Counsellors to ensure day to day camp operations run smoothly. 

Camp STEAM camp coordinator

Some of the Camp Coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Training and supervising staff, on location with the help of the Program Coordinator
  • Ensuring all emergency procedures are followed
  • Ensuring a smooth pick-up and drop-off process
  • Effectively communicating when parents seek assistance about camp or their children
  • Purchasing extra camp supplies when approved by the Management Team
  • Managing Counsellors-In-Training (CIT) at your location (if applicable)
  • Leading activities with children of all ages when necessary

Camp Support

The Camp Support person supports camp leaders with reporting, discussing concerns with parents, ensuring staff and campers are adhering to health and safety protocols and more.

Camp STEAM camp coordinator

Some of the Camp Support responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the office and camp staff by completing reports, including: Attendance reporting, illness reporting, accident/injury reporting
  • Completing reports for Head Office to discuss with parents/guardians
  • Working directly with the site contact to ensure policies/procedures are being followed
  • Being a self-starter and able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Supporting camp level staff where needed
