A successful candidate must have an interest in a STEAM field as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, teaching skills, time management and organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and English proficiency with some experience in online gaming. Knowledge of coding and robotics such as Minecraft, MakeBlock Codey Rocky, Sphero Indi Robot Car, Scratch and advanced computer skills is an asset. Applicants currently enrolled in, or a graduate of, a Faculty of Education program are encouraged to apply. 

Program Coordinators should be punctual, patient, friendly, reliable, creative, energetic, and work well independently as well as in a group.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Camp Director and participate in weekly mentorship sessions to support skill development and career growth
  • Oversee Counsellors to ensure proper curriculum implementation
  • Keep Counsellors on track with build and coding milestones, and support camper reflection (e.g., journals)
  • Co-lead activities integrating technology and digital skills (coding, robotics, foundational AI skills)
  • Assist Camp Coordinator with training, supervision, and mentoring of all camp staff
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed, including WHMIS, hazard checks, and emergency protocols
  • Develop STEAM-related activities as needed
  • Perform Counsellor duties in emergencies
  • Model appropriate behaviour and positive interactions
  • Engage parents with professional feedback
  • Purchase approved extra camp supplies
  • Mentor CITs if applicable
  • Complete administrative tasks (e.g., camp reports, follow-ups for absent campers)
  • Carry out other reasonable duties requested by the Management Team
  • Attend mandatory training

Note: Candidates applying for any position with Camp STEAM must have a valid certificate in Standard First Aid with CPR-C from a reputable provider of first aid training as recognized by WSIB / WCB / WorkSafe BC, as well as a Police Check in the Vulnerable Sector that was issued no earlier than August 28, 2025.

Successful Candidates Should Possess

  • Graduated from or currently enrolled in a STEAM-related field or Bachelor of Education at a post-secondary institution (considered an asset, not a requirement)
  • Knowledge and understanding of STEAM related topics  
  • Inspirational and creative thinking skills 
  • Customer service-oriented mindset
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to take initiative 
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change
  • The ability to anticipate problems and opportunities, and develop effective solutions 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Must be able to commute to workplace location
  • This position may be funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons to be eligible.

What to Expect

Although our camp season runs in July and August, we are looking for Program Coordinators to begin training in late June 2026. This is a full-time, contract role that is a great opportunity for people who enjoy working with children.

Hourly Wage

$19.60–$25.00 per hour (depending on province and local wage requirements)
